Dimitrij Kadrnožka studied at the Academy of Applied Arts and the Academy of Performing Arts Prague, Czech Republic. In 1967 Kadrnožka travelled to Havana, Cuba where he was invited to help to establish the Cuban Academy of Arts. His trip to Cuba had a major impact on his palette which became more colourful and bright under the influence of the strong Cuban sun. Dimitrij Kadrnožka is also well known as a graphic and theatre set designer. To this day he has created over 150 movie posters. In 1960 he won a Toulouse-Lautrec Award at the International Poster Exhibition in Paris, France.
